The latest design to join the collection of De Beers engagement rings is inspired by the classic lines of the jewellery house's very first diamond solitaire.

Named Old Bond Street after the location of its original flagship store, it captures the very essence of timeless diamond engagement rings. While the De Beers store opened in 2002, iconic Old Bond Street has been renowned as the ultimate London destination for the world's most prestigious fine jewellery houses for three centuries.

Available in either 1.50 or 2.00 carats, the ring features a round brilliant diamond solitaire on the band, channel set with glittering pavé diamonds. The Old Bond Street design sits alongside the existing collection of De Beers engagement rings, which includes the recently launched Infinity diamond solitaire.

Before the 20th century, engagement rings were extremely rare and those that did exist usually contained coloured gemstones such as sapphires and rubies, rather than diamonds. De Beers is credited with revolutionising the diamond industry in the 1930s by introducing diamond engagement rings and then, in 1948, launching an advertising campaign under the now iconic slogan "A Diamond is Forever".

Established in 1888, De Beers is known as "The Jeweller of Light" and was also the first to introduce the 4 Cs diamond-grading system, which is still used throughout the luxury jewellery industry today.
