The new Stream collection of Fernando Jorge jewellery is as graceful and energetic as the Samba dance that is synonymous with the Grand Carnival in his native country. The name alone, of course, hints at the streamlined organic designs that we have come to associate with this Brazilian wunderkind, with a nod towards gravity-defying aerodynamics.
The refined fluidity of the Stream collection is exemplified in the open yellow gold ring, with its supple swirls gently curving around the finger. The open ring also appears in a more glamorous guise, set with champagne diamonds, while the emerald ring, although in the same shape, looks startlingly different; the green gemstones adding an almost electrifying burst of colour.
For the first time, Fernando Jorge has used white gold in both the Stream collection and the new SS15 pieces from his existing and much-lauded Fusion collection. Fernando's designs merge Brazilian sensuality with the edginess of London to create sculptural pieces that are powerful, provocative and elegant. With a technical expertise honed by his training at Central Saint Martins and extensive experience in the jewellery industry, he moulds fine materials into shapes that, despite their effortless appearance, are highly complex.
Fernando has an affinity with Brazilian gemstones and minerals - often overlooked in his home country due to their abundance - and a knack for cutting them into unique, modern-looking shapes.
As we bundle into our coats and scarves to face yet another grey winter's day, the thought of adding a glimmer of Brazilian joy and sunshine with this latest collection from Fernando Jorge is enough to put a Samba-esque swagger into our step.
The new Stream collection of Fernando Jorge jewellery will be available from February 2015.
