New floral jewellery for autumn

A heady bouquet of contemporary floral jewellery has arrived just in time to chase the autumn blues away. Flowers are a perennial motif in fine jewellery, but any cutesy, dainty connotations are firmly left behind as these new blooms dazzle us with a cool, grown-up vibe, which makes them infinitely wearable.

The Tessa Packard jewellery creations always have an elegantly edgy feel, and her latest collaboration with Amsterdam-based House of Eléonore is no exception. The Paradise collection features South Sea pearls encased between gold petals to form a pod-like silhouette, reminiscent of the orchids found in Papua New Guinea. Launching this month, the Orchid ring and matching earrings, with their simple yet refined design, are the perfect everyday luxe jewels.

The romantic, fragrant rose is the inspiration behind a Graff jewellery collection, which recreates flower petals with striking combinations of diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires. In each fine jewellery piece, a round diamond is surrounded by eight smaller diamonds or coloured gemstones, with loops of pavé diamonds completing the pleasingly symmetrical floral motif. Speaking of the collection, Anne-Eva Geffroy, design director at Graff Diamonds, says: “Throughout history, women have decorated and adorned their bodies with elements of flora and fauna such as flowers. These exquisite elements from the natural world continue to provide a strong source of inspiration for our jewellery collections - an aesthetic perfectly epitomised by the Rosette collection.”

Ever since, the camellia has been inextricably linked with Chanel jewellery, making regular appearances in the Maison’s high jewellery collections. Launched this summer, the Talisman de Chanel collection is inspired by the amulets worn for spiritual protection in the Byzantine Empire. The lucky quatrefoil, or four-leaf clover, features throughout the 50-piece collection, and in the Fascinante set, it is paired with the iconic camellia flower on jewels crafted from white gold, diamonds and enamel.

Glistening with the glorious colours and geometric shapes of the finest architectural gardens of the Renaissance, the Giardini Italiani collection of Bulgari jewellery is a bouquet of luxurious, dazzling blooms. Set with a roll-call of spectacular coloured gemstones, the Secret Garden high jewellery necklace features flowers crafted from tourmaline, topaz, rubellites, tanzanite, citrine, amethyst, aquamarine and emerald beads.

While there is no denying the captivating beauty of fresh flowers, floral jewellery will never wilt and is definitely the way to win our hearts.
