Celine d'Aoust rough pink tourmaline necklace

Feminine pastels such as dusty lilac, powder blue and rosy pink are set to be a huge jewellery trend in 2016. Not only were chalky pastels all over the SS16 catwalks, Pantone named its Color of the Year earlier this month and chose two for the first time ever: the harmonious pairing of Rose Quartz and Serenity - a tranquil blue and dusky pink. For gift ideas that show you’ve got your finger on the fashion pulse, scroll through our gallery of the pretty fine jewellery in pastel hues we will be coveting in the year ahead and read up on why they will make the most delectable gifts.

Celine d’Aoust
Rose gold necklace with diamonds and a natural rough pink tourmaline
£765

The best gifts are both unique and beautiful. This diamond necklace by Belgian designer Celine d’Aoust ticks both boxes and will add a colourful pop to any outfit. Set with a rough pink tourmaline held in place by a diamond-studded gold band, it typifies Celine’s signature design aesthetic, which celebrates the natural, organic beauty of gemstones.

Brumani
Baobab Rose earrings in gold, diamonds, rose quartz and pink tourmaline
£6,115

Pale rose quartz is framed by white diamonds and pink tourmalines in these pretty pastel earrings by Brumani. The muted, milky tones ensure that the sugary sweet pink-on-pink combination looks elegant and sophisticated. Established in 2005, the family-run Brazilian jeweller Brumani uses gemstones sourced in its native Brazil, bringing a slice of carnival spirit and seductive femininity to every colourful jewel.

Kattri
Rose gold and rose quartz Hyperbola necklace
£4,135

Be pretty in pink in this rose gold necklace by Kattri set with two milky-hued Brazilian rose quartz gems. Born in Brazil but now based in the UK, Amanda Gerbasi’s architectural training shines through in her jewellery, with its distinctive geometrical shapes and minimalist aesthetic. Using ethically sourced stones from her native Brazil, each design is created using 3D CAD technology to ensure perfect symmetry.

Francesca Villa
White gold, blue topaz and diamond Joie de Vivre earrings
£1,600

Like a gem-bearing storyteller, Italian jeweller Francesca Villa weaves a red thread through all her creations, inspired by objets trouvés that she picks up on her travels. The Joie de Vivre collection recalls joyful childhood memories through cherished motifs such as Lilliputian teacups, butterflies, ballerinas and tin soldiers. The unfussy butterfly shapes on these diamond earrings are decorated with pale blue topazes, while a round-cut diamond adorns each white gold stud.

Kara Ross
Yellow gold, amethyst and white diamond Hydra earrings
£1,999

It’s all about the gemstones for New York-based jewellery designer Kara Ross - and the more colourful the better. The discovery of a beautiful green tourmaline on a holiday to Africa as a teenager ignited Kara’s passion for jewellery and, today, she counts First Lady Michelle Obama among her loyal customers. These amethyst and diamond earrings are part of the Hydra collection, which takes its name from the Latin word for snake, with curved lines that mimic the serpent’s movements.

Vianna Brasil
Rose gold, diamond and amethyst earrings
£2,550

Pale, almost translucent, lilac amethysts are suspended in diamond-embellished rose gold teardrops in these earrings by Vianna Brasil. A family jeweller now in its fourth generation, Vianna Brasil draws inspiration from the vibrant colours and culture of Brazil. As the only Brazilian company with its own cutting facility, a great deal of emphasis is placed on the shape of the coloured gemstones, which range from traditional cuts to in-house-designed fancy cuts.

Roberto Marroni
Oxidised gold earrings with grey diamonds, blue agate, mother-of-pearl and sunflower quartz
£1,505

“Jewels are a part of me,” says Roberto Marroni, who as a child loved spending time in his father’s jewellery shop in the Italian region of Umbria. Today, his collections are handmade in his workshop in Valenza and sold in boutiques all over the world. In these beautiful drop earrings, blue agate, mother-of-pearl and sunflower quartz have been combined to achieve the perfect blue.

Brumani
Baobab Bubbles gold, diamond and topaz ring
£1,155

Set up in 2005 by brothers Eduardo, Emerson and Rodrigo Brüner, Brumani captures the Brazilian “savoir vivre” or joy of life in its contemporary jewels. This colourful collection is inspired by the African Baobab tree that was transplanted to Brazil, with an array of gemstones in mouth-watering pastel shades reflecting the lush South American landscape. This open diamond ring in yellow gold features an oval-cut topaz at one end, and a cluster of diamonds, rubies and pink and blue topazes at the other, with brown diamonds on the shoulders.
