EDITOR'S REVIEW
This impressive 24.71 carat diamond is from the De Beers 1888 Master Diamonds collection of stones of note. The pear-shaped stone has a light yellow appearance due to a low colour grade – this stone is classed as an M- olour. It is unusual to find good-quality examples of low colour-grade diamonds in this size, but this stone is a SI1, meaning that it has slight inclusions that will only be visible under magnification. Because diamonds in higher colour grades are more highly prized, this stone – which has a wonderful sparkle and warm colour – will be about half the price of a comparable diamond, and about a third less expensive than a yellow diamond. This rare stone has been set simply on an 18 carat yellow gold chain.
