EDITOR'S REVIEW
A top Italian military secret until the late 1990s, Panerai resurfaced as a civilian brand with two of its original military underwater models, the Radiomir and the Luminor. This sturdy 47mm Panerai Luminor chronograph in lightweight titanium is specifically rigged for sailing regattas, with a countdown function activated by the orange-tipped pusher at 4 o’clock. The hallmark sandwich case, with its protective bridge on the crown, frames a masculine black dial distinguished by the large hour markers and remarkable luminescence, which have been Panerai’s forte since its days with the Italian Navy. The caseback allows a view of the in-house automatic movement, with its rotor providing energy to two barrels for a generous three-day power reserve. The sporty black rubber strap is ideal for maritime conditions, but since this is a watch you will probably want to wear on land as well, the chronograph comes with a second interchangeable strap.
