|Maria Doulton: Walking round Geneva and London, you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to fabulous jewels, because all the big names in the game are here. But there is one that really stands out for me, and that's Boghossian. In 2008, when the family decided to establish the Boghossian brand, they decided to take design for fine jewellery into uncharted territory. They were able to do this because they have the confidence and the knowledge of fine stones inherited from generation to generation.
Now, at the heart of the Boghossian look are two techniques they have very much made their own. The first is the Art of Inlay. This then evolved into a second technique, known as "Kissing Diamonds".
CEO Albert Boghossian took us to the atelier where two of these techniques are carried out, and explained in more detail.
Albert Boghossian: We could use an emerald with a diamond, like you're going to see, but we blend them together in a very intricate way so that they look as one.
Maria Doulton: But Boghossian doesn't stand still, and the new collection is the fabulously opulent Ballet Oriental, which was designed by Creative Director Edmond Chin.
Edmond Chin: The Boghossian family is a family from the Orient, and they have their own powerful aesthetic - I wanted to acknowledge that. I thought of dance, I really love dance; I think it's one of the most powerful sort of arts. We took aspects from ballet and from Oriental dance, and we fused it, and we made jewellery which was inspired by these ideas.
Maria Doulton: Only a family like the Boghossians, who have such experience with precious stones, can dare to be so bold, and look to the past and acknowledge the very best, and take it right into the future.
