Coinciding with the season, the American designer has unveiled four new ladies’ watches with majestic purple and mystical blue lacquered dials. A wonderful blend of old and new, these Ralph Lauren watches are contemporary classics that fit in perfectly with the designer’s knack for creating timeless designs.
I saw these newcomers at SalonQP in November and can confirm that the vibrant coloured dials immediately catch the eye and gleam with a light and presence all of their own. The four new 32mm models join the Slim Classique family - a collection renowned for its hallmark ultra-thin round case with a distinctive vintage feel and, above all, the superior guilloché work used to adorn the dial and, in some cases, the bezel of these rose gold watches.

The mesmerising guilloché Barleycorn pattern on the centre of the dial features a series of undulating waves, its beauty enhanced with translucent blue or purple enamel, creating a sumptuous surface that changes according to the light - very much in the style of Carl Fabergé’s Imperial eggs.
The large gold Roman numerals and Breguet-style hands on the dial - recognisable thanks to the hollowed-out Moon shape at the extremities so as not to obscure the dial - are further classic touches that stand out against the blue or purple dials. Two versions are available, one with a guilloché bezel and the other with a row of 60 brilliant-cut diamonds.

With its sophisticated ultra-thin 32mm rose gold case - measuring just 5.15mm in height - the case contains a Swiss quartz movement for carefree maintenance and precision readings.
