Showcasing the best of the best in art, antiques and contemporary design, Masterpiece London is back with some of the finest designs you will see all year.

Launched in 2010, Masterpiece is the one of the hottest events in the collectors' calendar, with its daring mix of pieces, from antiquity to the present day.

Held annually in the south grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, you will find everything from museum-quality art with impeccable provenance to superlative jewellery from masters past and present.

You will want to spend at least half a day browsing with like-minded buyers, talking to dealers - all of whom have undergone a strict vetting process - and soaking up the refined atmosphere. Every corner turned reveals new riches, from a little-known Andy Warhol to a vintage Piaget watch.

For the jewellery lover, there is much to admire. In 2016, Boghossian, Wallace Chan and Theo Fennell led the field in contemporary jewellery, while the antique and vintage jewellery offerings were particularly strong thanks to big-name exhibitors A La Vieille Russie, Les Enluminures, GRIMA, Hancocks, Symbolic & Chase, Wartski and more.

Mixing old and new, Van Cleef & Arpels, Verdura and Belperron showcased jewellery from their archives alongside some of their latest creations. Iconic pieces were plentiful. To whet your appetite, we spotted an antique Van Cleef Zip necklace and Suzanne Belperron's Double Coronet bracelet.

Tempting visitors to stay longer, the wining and dining is always first class, with pop-ups from The Ivy, Le Caprice, Scott's and the Mount Street Deli in 2016, plus a Perrier-Jouët Champagne Terrace.
