For the very first time The Jewellery Editor team landed in Vegas to find out first hand about the most talked-about jewellery show in the United States. And the Couture Show Las Vegas did not disappoint, with over 250 exhibitors showing their jewellery and watches to retailers from around the world.
Our latest video captures the excitement of this carefully curated trade show, which offers a wide range of creativity, quality and originality. I speak to Coomi, Stephen Webster, Alessio Boschi, Holly Dyment and Lydia Courteille about their latest creations as these five highly individual jewellers offer an insight into the diversity and richness of this jewellery show.
Coomi tells me how she incorporates ancient artefacts into her jewels, which embody her interests in life, ranging from art history to spirituality. Meanwhile, Stephen Webster is heading in a high-tech direction. His new interchangeable ceramic bracelets for men, with cigar cutter-shaped clasps in precious metals and gemstones, are taking the brand into a new era of sophisticated men's jewellery.
Alessio Boschi presented his first collection of jewels under his own name and they are breathtaking in their creativity, coupled with an obsessive attention to detail. What's more, almost all larger necklaces can be taken apart to form bracelets, earrings and even hand-spanning jewels.
Holly Dyment's pop-tastic enamel rings and earrings are a splash of colour and fun that I couldn't resist. Dyment has made a set of rings for each day of the week, and Saturday is the one with the most diamonds.
Lydia Courteille is a long-time favourite of mine, and in her delightfully charming way she tells us about her new Animal Farm collection and its links to both George Orwell and Marie Antoinette. The result is rings in the form of a pig, turkey, duck, goat, mouse and cow.
