Few jewels can make a statement like a cuff bracelet. And with the Couture Show Las Vegas just two weeks away, I am noticing a return to the classic wrist cuff beloved of fashion icons from Coco Chanel to Jackie Kennedy.
With a 60s and 70s vibe, cuffs were spotted on the Autumn/Winter 2015-2016 runways at Chanel and Louis Vuitton. The sinuous curves of Vhernier's architectural bracelets make them an ideal accessory to this year's flares and turtleneck sweater. In brushed yellow gold, or white gold with a pop of diamonds, they make a Wonder Woman-worthy statement of feminine power.
Roberto Coin's dazzling Tanaquilla cuff draws the eye with textured gold and brown diamonds inspired by the intricate detail of ancient Etruscan jewelry.
Surrounded by the abundant nature of her native Brazil, Carla Amorim jewelry marries volume with lightness of touch in the leafy curves of the Botanico bracelet, while Barcelona's famous architecture inspired the Art Deco cut-outs of Swedish designer Efva Attling's cuff.
In the luxurious new Universe collection set to be unveiled at the Couture Show Las Vegas, Nikos Koulis jewelry also makes the world its inspiration. The sculptural curves of the Universe cuffs echo Indian motifs, their heft softened by the romantic tones of mother-of-pearl, rose gold, white diamonds and sapphires in softest pink.
Art is often the starting point for Carole Le Bris Perez. Her Basquiat bracelet was inspired by the New York graffiti artist's signature crown motif and offers a lighter interpretation - quite literally- of the cuff trend. Negative space also plays its role in Fernando Jorge's Stream bracelet, which in warm tones of champagne diamonds and rose gold, flows effortlessly around the wrist, while Mizuki's minimalist cuff adds the simple luxury of diamonds.
