London-based fine jewellery designer Gee Woods founded her brand in 2013, which includes bespoke commissions and ready-to-wear luxury jewellery. As a trained gemologist and jewellery designer, Woods has become known for specialising in recycling old, neglected family jewellery into modernised creations, which still maintain the sentiment of the original piece. Her strategy for creating such fine jewellery pieces is clear; "First, I meet with the client to discuss ideas and see the old ring, then I draft some sketches and, if necessary, source some additional stones before doing a painting to scale from three angles. Then we start on unsetting the original ring and making the new one."
