Turkish designer and master goldsmith, Gurhan is credited with revitalising the use of pure gold in modern-day fine jewellery. In 1994, a watchmaker handed Gurhan a sheet of 24ct gold, which he still carries in his wallet today, and unlocked his passion for the challenging metal. Over the coming years, and fascinated by why metalsmiths had stopped using gold, he made it his mission to revive the metal, learning ancient techniques rather than being swayed by modern technologies. Today, Gurhan continues to create distinctive fine jewellery, each piece made solely by himself, from design and development to the creation of each prototype. It is this dedication that has lead experts to declare that Gurhan has successfully taken an ancient craft and difficult material, and turned it into a modern-day gem.
