While Verdura's home is in New York, this by no means tells the amazing history behind this glamorous high jewellery house. Founded in 1939 by Sicilian-born Duke Fulco di Verdura, his high jewellery designs are intensely influenced by his extravagant lifestyle, which spanned the Atlantic from Palermo to Paris, Hollywood and, eventually, New York. In his time, Verdura collaborated with some of the world's most famous designers and artists, including Coco Chanel and Salvador Dali, and this golden age of design was a powerful influence on his high jewellery creations. Today, Verdura retains the eclectic allure and vibrancy of his original designs.
