Chaumet is buzzing with its colourful new arrivals. The Bee My Love collection is all about the bee. Honeycomb shape settings and bright colours bring alive this industrious creature that has been the house symbol of the 12 Place Vendome jeweller and purveyor of tiaras to Napoleon 1, whose emblem was surprise, surprise the bee. The high jewellery collection shown here, focuses on blue, that regal colour that once again back in favour. These ten unique pieces range from a bee-set tiara to zesty-coloured rings. The tiara alone, with its open-work settings, took 600 hours to make. The 5.49 carat blue sapphire bee is detachable and can be worn as a brooch. Likewise the spectacular pendant necklace can be transformed by unhinging two of the long coloured-stone drops that double up as earrings. Twenty other designs based on the bee come in honey-coloured yellow and orange sapphires set in yellow gold or diamonds with red spinels and pink sapphires. The historical link of Chaumet and the bee, a Napoleonic symbol of power, is reinforced with Chaumet's support of the Terre d'Abeilles Association's Save the Bee campaign.
