There was no question in the minds of audiences and Academy voters alike that when Jean DuJardin took home the Best Actor Academy Award for The Artist he owed at least half of that award to Uggie the dog - so much so that people around the world had already launched various campaigns on social media and beyond to have Uggie nominated for his very own Oscar.
Instead of an Academy Award on Sunday, Uggie the dog was given something very special indeed, when he wore a one-of-a-kind collar designed by Caroline Scheufele, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard. Uggie's gorgeously crafted Academy Award bow tie is made of 18ct yellow gold and satin with his name proudly adorning it, and will be auctioned off with all proceeds donated to The Amanda Foundation. Another was also designed and worn by Uggie at The Weinstein Company pre-Oscar party. Scheufele says "Knowing that Uggie is a rescue dog, it inspired me to create a unique piece to benefit an important cause".
Known for her passionate support of environmental causes and animal issues, as well as the love for her own seven dogs, Scheufele's unique way of adding that Chopard touch has made an already incredible year that much more special for this adorable little co-star.
