Unveiling its latest Red Carpet collection ahead of the two-week long Cannes Film Festival next month, Chopard has captures the heady glamour of the annual film festival, with a high jewellery collection that pays tribute to the luminous beauty of the actresses treading the red carpet.

Chopard has been the official partner of the prestigious film festival since 1998 and, for the last nine years, has produced a collection of high jewellery comprising the same number of pieces as the edition number of that year's festival. To coincide with the 68th edition this May, 68 one-of-a-kind pieces of Chopard jewellery will be unveiled featuring hundreds of carats of the finest diamonds and coloured gemstones. With colour a strong theme in jewels this year, Chopard embraces the brightest hues of gemstones from electric blue Paraiba tourmalines to deep purple amethysts.

Arguably the most glamorous red carpet event of them all, the Cannes jewellery worn by the A-list stars in attendance never fails to draw gasps of delight. In recent years, sustainability has become a watchword in the world of luxury, and Chopard has become one of the highest profile jewellery brands to lend its support to the cause.

In 2013, the jewellery house teamed up with Livia Firth, founder of the Green Carpet Challenge and creative director of Eco-Age, to launch "The Journey to Sustainable Luxury" at the festival, where it revealed the first pieces in its Green Carpet high jewellery collection, crafted from Fairmined gold. Since then, Chopard jewellery from the Green Carpet Collection has been pictured frequently on red carpets around the world.

French actress Marion Cotillard was an early supporter of the Green Carpet Collection and was in fact the first actress the wear Chopard's ethical jewels on the red carpet at Cannes in 2013. This year, Cotillard goes a step further in the journey to sustainability and has worked with Chopard in designing the Green Carpet Collection.

This year, Chopard launches its third Green Carpet high jewellery collection crafted from Fairmined gold. To mark the 60th anniversary of the Palme d'Or prize, the collection is inspired by the iconic award that Chopard co-president Caroline Scheufele redesigned in 1998 and has been producing every year to hand out at the final award ceremony.
