Genevan jewellery house de GRISOGONO confirmed the robbery of a €2 million necklace in Cannes after its 20th anniversary party held at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d'Antibes on Tuesday evening. Guests included Sharon Stone, Paris Hilton, Harvey Weinstein and other celebrities, many of them wearing high-value de GRISOGONO jewels. Read more about the party here.
This follows on from the theft of Chopard jewels last week. According to Fawaz Gruosi, Founder and Creative Director of de GRISGONO: "These incidents are rare; it is actually the first time it has happened in our 20-year history. However, when they occur one must be proactive and collaborate with the authorities."
The press release from de GRISOGONO states: "Regrettably, after the night's festivities ended, de GRISOGONO staff members discovered that a high jewellery necklace, part of the launched collection, was stolen despite the large security measures set in place: over 80 security guards plus the police. A police report has been filed and further investigation is under way by local law enforcement."
