The first day of the Cannes Film Festival kicked off yesterday with the stars setting the scene for what promises to be a week full of scintillating red carpet jewellery.
The ever-stylish Naomi Watts dazzled the crowds in a strapless embellished dress by Giuseppe Zanotti teamed with a colourful Bulgari necklace from the new Italian Extravaganza high jewellery collection. The British actress completed her Cannes jewellery with a pair of Bulgari earrings and a Serpenti diamond ring, which she wore to Wednesday’s premiere of Woody Allen’s film Café Society.
Bulgari was also the jewellery of choice for American actress Anna Kendrick who accessorised her canary yellow Stella McCartney dress with a Divas’ Dream diamond necklace, along with matching earrings and a floral diamond ring. Julianne Moore showed that ethics and glamour go hand in hand by debuting the latest pieces from Chopard’s Green Carpet collection; a pair of earrings and a ring crafted from Fairmined white gold, set with responsibly sourced emeralds from Gemfields.
Fashion designer Victoria Beckham looked effortlessly chic when she joined Chopard co-president Caroline Scheufele on the red carpet in a black bustier top and trousers from her own Fall 2016 collection, which were the perfect backdrop to her sparkling Chopard diamond jewellery.
Sleek and sophisticated is often the order of the day when it comes to Cannes Film Festival jewellery and this year’s opening ceremony was no different. Model Bella Hadid paired her nude Roberto Cavalli dress with an on-trend de GRISOGONO choker and diamond bracelet, while British actress and TV presenter Carly Steel also added some sparkle to her purple Georges Hobeika gown with de GRISOGONO jewellery.
Piaget brand ambassador Jessica Chastain channelled classic Hollywood style in a figure-hugging Armani Prive dress accessorised with a show-stopping white gold and diamond Piaget necklace. She also matched the colour of her dress with a yellow diamond ring from the aptly named Sunny Side of Life high jewellery collection.
French actress Alice Taglioni attended the Café Society premiere wearing a floor-sweeping floral dress by Giambattista Valli, along with a diamond Montblanc bracelet and earrings from the Princess Grace collection. And the men proved that they can also add some glamour to the proceedings with jury members Mads Mikkelsen and László Nemes sporting a Montblanc Exo Tourbillon and Chaumet Dandy watch respectively.
With another 11 days of the world’s most prestigious film festival to go, keep your eyes peeled for more updates on the very best of the red carpet jewellery at Cannes.
