All eyes were on Kate Middleton's dress as she walked down the aisle but I was more interested in what was on her head. It was a Cartier 'Halo' tiara lent to Kate by the Queen. Here is the official verdict from Cartier - sent to me via SMS - about the tiara: "Halo Tiara 1936 lent to Miss Middleton by the Queen. It was purchased b the Duke of York (later King George VI) for his wife (later Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother) 3 weeks before he succeeded his brother as King. The Tiara was presented to Princess Elizabeth (now the Queen) by her mother on occasion of her 18th birthday." I am dying to know if it was made by Cartier in London as the house was very active in tiara-making at this time. Will keep you posted.
