Tamara Rojo, Artistic Director of the English National Ballet and face of luxury watch house Backes & Strauss, took time out from her schedule of dancing the lead in Le Corsaire and running a ballet company to talk to us about watchmaking and dance.
From her Kensington office in London, Rojo explained her quest to make ballet relevant to new audiences while still respecting tradition and the past - a situation similar to that faced by watchmakers, who strive to marry classicism with modernity.
Wearing her Victoria Snowdrop diamond watch on her wrist, Tamara comments that she is as demanding with her art as Backes & Strauss is with its watches. They both insist on absolute perfection in each and every detail, no matter how small.
