Mattia Cielo, the Italian jewellery house, is the Ferrari of jewellers. Metamorphic dynamism, high tech materials and mechanical components are the phrases this company uses to describe itself. The Armadillo is one of its iconic designs and its scales open and close, rippling with motion. Designer Massimiliano Bonòli applies the criteria of industrial design to gold and diamonds and the result is amazing highly tactile jewels that are just dying to be fiddled with. Other versions included blackened gold, sapphires and rubies. These are for the thinking woman who likes a touch of architectural discipline and mechanical complexity with her jewels.
