The MontblancMeisterstück Diamond is both a jewel and a writing instrument. Twinkling away in the transparent dome on the lid is a star-cut Montblanc diamond that appears to float suspended in thin air. Every one of the 43 facets of the Montblanc star diamond is on view and sparkles to maximum effect as it catches the light. The Meisterstück Diamond model, shown above and below, has platinum-plated fittings and a gold nib so it will come as no surprise that meisterstück means masterpiece in German.
There are many versions of the floating Montblanc star-diamond. The Meisterstück range, which is the classic Montblanc pen introduced 85 years ago, maintains its iconic torpedo shape in black resin. A diamond replaces the white resin star that originally crowned the cap and symbolises the snowy summit of Europe's highest mountain. Feminine versions of Montblanc's pens are now graced with the star diamond and pretty models such as the ones below are jewel-like in their finishes and colours. The shapely curves of the Etoile collection are also graced with the Montblanc diamond that sits atop golden bodies shimmering with precious gems. The first two models in gold are limited editions and just 10 of the pink diamond version have been made and 15 of the cognac diamond version . Always precious and the pen of statesmanship and artists, now Montblanc has a shimmering little star to guide your days. This is a pen you won't want to lose and if I had one I would find ways of wearing it to make sure that the sparkle of the diamond is on full view, perhaps peeking out of the top of a pocket or clipped on to a lapel.
