In the wake of Paris Couture Week and with the city still awash with couture-clad customers, it was the turn of a select handful of high jewellery brands to show their new collections. With official haute joallerie members Van Cleef & Arpels and Chaumet absent from this January's showing (they'll no doubt be back for the bigger mid-year couture week), remaining members, including Dior, presented their latest jewels on Place Vendôme.

Dior chose to show two different ranges, displayed on tiny pieces of doll's furniture. The first included additions to existing collections, such as slinkier cannage bracelets in polished gold, with a liberal use of diamonds, from the 'My Dior' range. The new pieces in the 'Précieuses' collection featured large central stones. For this collection, Victoire de Castellane, who is in charge of the design of all Dior high jewellery, was inspired by Milly-La-Forêt, Mr Dior's country house. The focus is on coloured stones such as rubies, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds. Rampant wildflowers, including four-leaf clovers and roses, was another strong theme, a hint of what's to come when the house shows its next high jewellery collection in July.
