The London-based jeweller Stephen Webster unveils CH2, an evolution of the original Crystal Haze collection from the mid 1990’s. Like Crystal Haze, doublets, or stone pairings remain a key feature of CH2 with facetted rock crystal domes creating a magnifying glass effect over layers of opaque gemstones such as turquoise, falcon’s eye or green agate. Gazing into the turquoise CH2 jumbo-size cocktail ring is like looking into a David Hockney blue swimming pool.
Celebrating 25 years of success, CH2 expands on the range of both designs and techniques. Stacking rings, channel-set baguette gemstones such as emerald and rubies and double domes of rock crystal give a contemporary and sophisticated air to this collection originally pitched at women who were looking to buy their own jewellery. At the time this was a radical concept but as soon as Madonna was spotted wearing her Crystal Haze ring, a slew of celebrities followed. Empowering and edgy, Crystal Haze made fine jewellery hip. Ever willing to break the rules in terms of design, Stephen Webster is committed to traditional craftsmanship and his love of gemstones is evident in this vibrantly coloured new collection. I wonder which A-list celebrity will be the first to be snapped wearing the new CH2.
