From the very beginning in 2004, collectors from around the world have snapped up Cindy Chao’s Black Label masterpieces.
So intricate and three-dimensional are Cindy Chao’s designs that stones envelope all sides of the jewel. One of her clients explains that every time she views one of Cindy’s pieces she needs to take a few days to digest and reflect on all the details.
Chao launched her iconic annual butterfly-themed masterpieces in 2008, and her 2009 creation, the Royal Butterfly, was inducted by the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History for its usage of gemstones and its breakthrough in craftsmanship.
The décor is dark and sophisticated, and the view from the windows stunning, but these aren’t the main attractions. It is Cindy Chao’s intricate gem-encrusted creations that tread a fine line between art and jewellery.
Cindy Chao designs in Taipei and has ateliers in Geneva and Lyons where her jewels are crafted. Her Black Label art jewels are shown by appointment in Hong Kong, where her showroom shares a building with several of the city’s major art galleries. She also designs a White Label collection and has showrooms in Taipei and Beijing.
