EDITOR'S REVIEW
The A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 has become the iconic timepiece of this historic German watchmaker. The new Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase watch retains all the classic features of its namesake while incorporating a Moon phase complication into the dial. The 41mm rose gold case has a solid silver face with the two classic Lange 1 sub dials. A small dial displays the stop-seconds function and the larger dial, located at 9 o'clock, houses the hour and minute functions, incorporating the beautiful moon phase disc. The moon phase dial is crafted from gold and treated with a blue coating that uses tricks of light to shine iridescently like the night sky. Three hundred and eighty two stars have been laser cut into the disc allowing the gold beneath to shine through, providing a depth of field to the continually moving dial. The Moon phase complication is accurate to 1 day in every 122.6 years, although if required a push button between 7 and 8 o'clock allows for adjustments. The classic Lange 1 oversized date function is located at 1 o'clock, and the 72-hour power reserve is monitored by the up/down indicator located by the rose gold crown. The hand assembled, manually wound Calibre L095.3 movement is visible through a sapphire case back and is exquisitely decorated with guilloché enamelling. The watch is presented on a brown alligator strap and a tonal buckle.
