EDITOR'S REVIEW
With its octagonal bezel, secured by eight hexagonal screws, Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak is one of the most instantly recognisable watches in the world. Launched in 2012, the Extra-Thin Selfwinding Royal Oak in stainless steel looks remarkably like the original Royal Oak, which dates back to 1972 and was designed by Gérald Genta. At 39mm across, it has the same case width as the original, but is considerably slimmer and lighter, with a thickness of only 8.1mm. Decorated with the Royal Oak's classic engine-turned "Grande Tapisserie" motif, the striking blue dial retains its strong visual presence. Water resistant to 50m, this slimline model of one of Audemars Piguet's most iconic designs marks the rebirth of a classic.
