EDITOR'S REVIEW
First launched in 1953, Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms timepiece set the benchmark for dive watches and became an icon almost overnight. Six decades later, Blancpain has expanded the collection with Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe models for men and women, incorporating cutting-edge silicon balance springs. The all-white ladies' model incorporates elements of the original Bathyscaphe watch, launched in the late 1950s, including luminescent dots on the bezel. A modern mechanical self-winding movement brings the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe firmly into the 21st century, with a non-magnetic silicon balance spring - renowned for its ability to withstand corrosion - visible through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback. Water resistant to 30 bar (approximately 300m), the unidirectional bezel turns anti-clockwise in one-minute increments, while the triple-loop NATO strap, introduced by the British military in the 1960s, is hard-wearing yet stylish.
