EDITOR'S REVIEW
The Cartier Santos watch is a horological star in its own right and generally considered to be one of the first men’s wristwatches on the market. Originally designed by Louis Cartier for his friend, the pioneering Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont, in 1904, the watch came with a strap allowing the pilot to consult the time on his wrist instead of having to extract a watch from his pocket. The Santos is an iconic Cartier watch that has flown down through the ages with its original design attributes intact. The geometric shape and exposed screws are hallmark identity signs, and this XL model in stainless steel - measuring 45.54 x 34.87mm - pays homage to its ancestor with the same Roman numerals and minute track that have come to define the style of many Cartier watches.
