EDITOR'S REVIEW
A stunning reincarnation of the Crash, one of Cartier's most iconic timepieces, the Tank Folle is improbably shaped yet impossibly elegant. Originally created by Jean-Jacques Cartier, head of Cartier London in the swinging 60s, the story behind the asymmetric dial is almost as surreal as the design. When presented with a mangled watch that had barely survived a car crash, Jean-Jacques took one look at the crushed timekeeper and was inspired to create the now iconic, Dalí-esque dial. Despite its distorted H-shaped case - crafted from 18ct white gold and set with brilliant-cut diamonds - and contorted Roman numerals on a sunray dial, the manual-winding Tank Folle remains true to the elegant Cartier Tank aesthetic.
