EDITOR'S REVIEW
Chanel’s Mademoiselle Privé watch collection opens the door to the intimate world of Gabrielle Chanel, inspired by some of the cherished objects that decorated her Parisian apartment. In this case the flying birds depicted on her famous Coromandel lacquered panels are recreated in vivid detail on the dials of this unique collection comprised of five pieces. To recreate the lifelike three-dimensional kingfisher and the surrounding flora of this model, Chanel has employed the ancient glyptic technique which involves cutting, sculpting and engraving stones. Entirely crafted by hand using a palette of semi-precious gemstones and mother-of-pearl set on an onyx background, artisans spent over 100 hours to create this miniature stone masterpiece. The 37.5mm white gold case features a gorgeous snow-set diamond bezel to frame the dial and a further 80 brilliant-cut diamonds decorate the folding white gold buckle. Equipped with a precision quartz movement for carefree maintenance, this unique watch is presented on a black alligator strap. The price of this strap is £184,000.
