This watch is unlike anything you will have encountered to date. Designed by watchmaker F.P. Journe for “comfort of use and adapted to modern needs”, unlike a mechanical watch, which needs winding, or a quartz watch, which needs its battery changed periodically, the Élégante watch literally goes to sleep when it is not being worn. After 30 minutes without motion, the watch switches to standby mode to save energy, but as soon as it is worn, the hands automatically re-set themselves to the correct time. An ingenious electromechanical mechanism designed to give the wearer up to 10 years of daily use without having to change the battery, the Élégante is an extremely stylish companion and comes in a 40mm red gold Tortue case set with diamonds and a chic snakeskin strap that glitters subtly in the light.
