I was amazed to discover that this bangle is a reworking of a design from the 1970s for Georg Jensen by Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe, one of the 20th century’s most important silversmiths. 2016 has been the year of the statement cuff, and this looks so of the moment that it is hard to believe it was first created in the heady days of disco. It has certainly lost none of its Studio 54 spirit, with the glossy mirrored finish of the gold contrasting with cabochons of London Blue topaz – the most sought-after variety of topaz thanks to its deep-blue colour.
