Butterflies are popular motifs in the world of high jewellery and are often depicted on the dials of women’s watches. However, Graff has taken the butterfly to new heights with the Princess Butterfly collection and uses the outline of a butterfly’s wings to create a romantic and feminine secret watch. The wings of this model are covered in rich blue sapphires pavé set on the surface of the wings, with tapered baguette gemstones on the edges. Master craftsmen at Graff spent many months designing both the contours of the wings and the ingenious mechanism, which is hidden by the seven diamonds in the centre that conceal the dial of this secret watch. By pushing on one of the diamonds, the wings part seamlessly to reveal the secret 17mm mother-of-pearl dial. As with all Graff’s creations, the attention to detail is consummate and the dial is made from a soft blue shade of mother-of-pearl and illuminated by a diamond-set bezel. Like butterflies and their ability for transformation, this piece won’t fly away thanks to the blue satin strap that attaches it to your wrist.
