EDITOR'S REVIEW
An amorphous diamond slice is surrounded by pavé white diamonds in this one-of-a-kind Moondance pendant necklace by Turkish designer Gurhan. The outer layer is crafted from 24ct yellow gold, while the 18-inch chain is made from 22ct gold. Gurhan’s signature technique of layering warm yellow gold with sterling silver and, in this case, diamonds, creates a beautiful contrast. His luxurious yet versatile pieces can easily be combined with other jewels in both gold and silver, and his collections are now sold in more than 15 countries. While many jewellers reject 24ct gold for being too soft and heavy, Gurhan has developed a technique based on ancient goldsmithing methods whereby the gold is heated to make it pliable and then hand-hammered and heated again to harden it.
