This mini Harry Winston Emerald watch is packed with references to the legendary New York “king of diamonds” and jeweller par excellence. The first direct allusion is contained in the petite white gold case (17.75 x 24mm), which imitates the famous emerald-cut for which the jeweller became famous. As a collector of important estate jewellery, Harry Winston made a name for himself by re-cutting and re-setting the stones, allowing their intrinsic beauty to prevail, and for this he often recurred to the emerald cut. The vibrant blue of the dial is another reference to Harry Winston’s fabled universe. Among his prized collection of diamonds was the mythical Hope Diamond, a rare 45.52ct dark blue gem that he eventually donated to the Smithsonian in 1958. The intense blue lacquered dial emanates a brilliant glossy sheen and glows with the sparkle of three brilliant-cut diamonds. The bezel, crown, lugs and buckle are also set with brilliant-cut diamonds, very in-keeping with the house of Harry Winston.
