EDITOR'S REVIEW
The art of Raden, an ancient Japanese technique used to embellish lacquerware and other objects with slivers of mother-of-pearl, is revived by the house of Harry Winston to create this extraordinary collection of watches. However, instead of inserting slivers of sashimi-thin nacre into lacquer, artisans have literally woven the mother-of-pearl with a thin mesh of silk thread to create a supple fabric. The vibrant zigzagging tapestry on the dial of this watch, composed of interwoven mother-of-pearl, gold leaf and silk, shimmers like the fabric of a contemporary haute-couture gown. Housed in a 36mm white gold case, the watch is equipped with a Swiss-made automatic movement, which you can view through the caseback. The Premier case, an iconic case shape that echoes the keystone framing the arched doorway leading into Harry Winston’s Fifth Avenue boutique, is set with a total of 74 brilliant-cut diamonds and is presented on an elegant black satin strap. A limited edition of 30 pieces, each watch is a unique work of art.
