EDITOR'S REVIEW
The ultimate whimsy is having a watch that does not tell the time. Designed by Hautlence as “an entirely essential yet fundamentally useless object” the Playgrond Labyrinth ‘watch’ is basically a game of maze ball played on the wrist. On the dial of the 37 x 43.5mm titanium case a maze has been carved in solid gold. The goal is to roll a ball around the gold carved maze by tilting the case and deposit it in the hole on the left hand side. To start the game, the player presses the crown, which in turn activates an ingenious mechanical lift in the interior of the case to deliver the platinum ball. Beautifully finished, both the dial and caseback are protected by an extra-hard sapphire crystal. Limited to 18 pieces, the Labyrinth is presented on a brown alligator strap with a titanium folding clasp.
