EDITOR'S REVIEW
This beautiful Hermès timepiece in white gold, with its sunset hues of fuchsia, burgundy, coral, orange and purple, showcases the ancient art of straw marquetry. This rare technique involves infinite precision by a master craftsman, who lines up hand-scythed, dried and dyed straw to form a pattern. The Hermès Arceau H Cube women's watch features a repeating geometric pattern in straw marquetry on the dial - a familiar motif at this famous Parisian leather goods house. Designed by Henri d'Origny, the cubic H motif interweaves across the dial in warm tonal colours, playing on tricks of perspective and providing a striking depth to the face. With white gold hour and minute hands being the sole functions on the dial, the watch's face is kept uncluttered to fully appreciate the beautiful workmanship. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the Swiss-made mechanical self-winding movement, calibre H1837, affords a 50-hour power reserve and is water resistant to 30m. Presented on a deep pink Hermès alligator strap, the precision and craftsmanship involved in creating a straw marquetry watch is such that only 10 of the Hermès Arceau H Cube watch have been made.
