Available from 1stdibs.com is this torque-style necklace, a recreation of an ancient Greek museum artefact by the renowned Greek jeweller Ilias Lalaounis, who passed away in 2013. An expert in Greek antiquity, Lalaounis combined ancient goldsmithing techniques with modern-day jewellery-making technology to breathe new life into iconic Greek jewellery designs, from snake bracelets to this Greco-Roman torque necklace in gold, finished with balls of lapis lazuli. Lalalounis’ jewels remain highly collectible, and he has a museum devoted to his work in the centre of Athens, near the Acropolis.
