EDITOR'S REVIEW
Since 1967 when it launched its first diver watch, Swiss watchmaker IWC has led the way in innovation and design and the 2014 Aquatimer collection is described by IWC as its purest dive watch. Featuring IWC's new SafeDive system that utilises a pioneering internal/external rotating bezel, it combines ultimate safety on a dive with vital ease of use. The external bezel moves anticlockwise in one-minute increments, guaranteeing that if it is moved in error, zero hour is never exceeded. At 42mm across, the stainless steel case is the smallest Aquatimer to date, with the screw-in crown at 3 o'clock balanced by the housing of the clutch for the rotating bezel at 9 o'clock. The defined black dial features hour, minute and second-hand functions, with a discrete date aperture at 3 o'clock. All functions on the dial have been treated with Super-LumiNova®, with the displays relevant to a dive coated in a contrasting luminescent green to ensure maximum legibility. The automatic self-wind mechanical movement provides a power reserve of up to 42 hours and is water resistant up to 30 bar. Presented on a rubber strap, using the IWC quick-change system, the second stainless steel strap can be fitted effortlessly.
