EDITOR'S REVIEW
The IWC Portugieser Annual Calendar watch is the latest in the Portugieser family, launched to celebrate the collection's 75th anniversary. First developed with the aim of creating a wristwatch that was as accurate as a marine chronograph, the Portugieser takes its name from the two Portuguese gentlemen who inspired it. This 44.2mm pink gold watch features a silver-plated dial with the annual calendar tri-aperture complication between 11 and 1 o'clock, displaying the month, date and day of the week in arched windows. A white railway minute track and Arabic numerals encircle the dial, with slim feuille hour and minute hands telling the time. A seconds sub-dial is at 9 o'clock, while the 7-day power reserve indicator is at 3 o'clock. Powered by the new in-house automatic movement, calibre 52850, which is visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the Annual Calendar requires one alteration per year, via the crown, during the short month of February. The watch is presented on a black Santoni alligator strap that fastens with a pink gold folding clasp.
