Lightning Ridge black opal ring

This is an opal that you can really get lost in, courtesy of jewellery designer Kat Florence, who has an eye for rare and out-of-the-ordinary gemstones. Glowing and flashing with neon colours, this 4.22 carat Australian opal comes from Lightning Ridge, source of some of the finest opals in the world. Set into 18 carat yellow gold and accentuated with 260 sparkling VVS diamonds, the finishing touch is two kite-shaped diamonds either side of the opal - a signature of Florence, a Canadian who now splits her time between her home in Rome and Bangkok, where she has a jewellery workshop that not only makes all of her jewels but also re-cuts 90% of the gemstones the brand uses.
