EDITOR'S REVIEW
Kova’s first collection of couture jewels was a tightly edited selection of six architectural cocktail rings. The large rings deliver substantial volume yet use negative space and clever tricks of engineering to make them feel almost weightless as they span across your hand. Getting the designs just so to achieve this effect took Kova 18 months of trial and error. Each ring is designed around a gemstone, and the 06.1 ring has a bespoke-cut blue spinel set beside an ivory pearl, and a smattering of black diamonds set into 18 carat black gold. The unusual cut of spinel creates an optical illusion that reflects light as well as creating a distorted image of the bed of black diamonds beneath it. While an initial six rings were presented for the debut collection, each one can be made to order.
