EDITOR'S REVIEW
The unconventional, slightly offset dial of the Longines Avigation Type A-7 watch revisits vintage pilots' watches of the 1920-30s, designed to allow the aviator to read his watch without having to take his hands off the controls. The 49mm stainless steel case has a mono-pusher crown located at 12 o'clock, 50 degrees offset from the standard position. The large fluted crown allows for the chronograph functions to be activated even while wearing bulky pilot's gloves. The monochrome black dial has white Arabic numbers and a tachymeter scale. A small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock houses the date aperture, while a second subdial at 12 o'clock displays the 30-minute counter. Protected by a hinged cover, the sapphire crystal caseback reveals the automatic column wheel chronograph movement, which provides a 54-hour power reserve. The pilot's watch is presented on a black alligator strap with contrasting white stitching.
