EDITOR'S REVIEW
Louis Vuitton’s luxury emporium started life as a maker of practical steamer trunks for intrepid Victorian travellers and explorers. The 2016 LV Fifty Five collection takes its design cues from an early aluminium trunk made in 1892 and gets its name from the LV logo, which stands for 55 in Roman numerals. Fans of the brand will immediately recognise the two metal plaques riveted and engraved with the name of Louis Vuitton at either end of the case. This 31mm stainless steel model also pays tribute to its maker with V-shaped numerals and an LV logo at 12 o’clock. Fitted with a reliable quartz movement, this model comes on a pink calfskin strap (€2,900) or a practical stainless steel bracelet (€3,300) with LV-monogrammed deployant clasps.
