EDITOR'S REVIEW
The new family of LV Fifty Five watches pays homage to the early Louis Vuitton lightweight and resilient aluminium steamer trunks, companions to many intrepid Victorian explorers on their travels to tropical climes. The name of the collection is derived from the LV logo, which represents 55 in Roman numerals. This 41mm stainless steel model is fitted with an automatic movement that powers the hours, minutes, seconds, GMT function and date - an ideal companion for today’s world traveller. The two metal plaques at either end of the case are the most distinctive feature of the collection and allude to the plaques found on the locks of the historic trunks. The handsome anthracite-coloured dial with a green PVD-coated seconds hand and GMT indication is also extremely easy to read. Available on a practical stainless steel bracelet (€4,500) or on a black Taurillon leather strap (€3,900) the LV Fifty Five is a stylish and contemporary take on one of the Maison’s icons.
