Created in homage to some of the first timepieces ever worn on the wrist, the Mappin & Webb Campaign Automatic watch draws on its history as one of the first companies to create a “fine wristlet watch”, which was deployed at the decisive battle of Omdurman in the Sudan in 1898. Displayed on a black crocodile leather strap, the stainless steel case has an intricate “coin edge” design and features a classic milled, onion-shaped crown. This Mappin & Webb Campaign Automatic watch has a simple military dial with clear Arabic hour markers. The movement is powered by a high-quality Swiss automatic movement, with a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The watch collection keeps its connection to the British military alive with its partnership with the charity Never Such Innocence, which was founded by Lady Lucy French, great-granddaughter of Field Marshal Sir John French who commanded the British Expeditionary Forces from 1914-15.
