EDITOR'S REVIEW
Mattia Cielo challenges your perception of jewellery. The luxury Italian jeweller launched in 2006 with a strong mission statement: to restore the dignity of art in jewellery. Eight years later and founder Mattia Cielo and his artist-designer partner, Massimiliano Bonòli, have been true to their word. Their creations are part technological marvel, part jewel and move in synergy with the body. The unique, architecturally sculpted Armadillo ring is one such dynamic example - it resembles the armour plating on the three-banded armadillo from Latin America, which can retract its shell and curl up in a ball. Set with 3.49ct white diamonds, the mechanical components hidden beneath the blue gold plates allow the calibrated ring to open and close. Often compared to Sydney Opera House, Mattia Cielo's Armadillo ring has been designed for the thinking woman who likes a touch of architectural discipline and mechanical complexity with her jewels.
